I am looking into Drum Tabs.
I have never used them. I learned to play by reading music.
But I have received several e-mail asking about them. So that is
my quest for the day.... More to follow.

Drummer Websites
I have been surfing the web for interesting
websites with fun stuff. I will be adding to
the "Cool Sites" link as I find them.
Just because I add them doesn't mean we endorse
them, just means there is stuff to check out.
Ok, you get the idea. Let us know of ones we should
add.

Thursday
So I am excited to be working on stuff here again.
I just found out Roz is going off on holidays.
*jealous grin*
I have some time to myself this weekend so I
will try and hunt down some interesting stuff.
I have been asked to play drums at a birthday party
for a friend. Just a basic quickie throw together
band made up of old friends ...yeah uh huh..
whatever that is.
Well as most of you know I haven't played since I had
my back surgery and my bass drum leg isn't happy. My
neurologist seems to think that I should practice and
strengthen that leg. Some of you know that the surgery
kicked my butt and I turned into a paranoid freak about
doing anything to aggravate the all controlling back.
But... one of my goals for this weekend is to set up
my drumset and figure out what I can play from the list
of songs they gave me. I have till the middle of July to
get my act together so to speak. *sigh*
I've talked with several drummers that have had to work
through injuries. Maybe that could be a topic here. Those
of you out there that have any advice... Write in!
You can email or leave a comment.

INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS
Ok, I have been out of the loop for a while.
Anyone have a favorite to recommend to the
newcomers that keep emailing me?I have
googled it, but the list is long. Let us
know what you like and why?
Thanks,
Rona

A NOTE FROM MARIE
Back in 1995 , Rona put an ad in some local papers, notes on bulletin boards at music stores and a few ads in drum magazines to find female drummers in her area. She was looking for someone to practice with if possible or just correspond with to give and get encouragement. She knew male drummers but no female ones. Within a week of placing the ad in Modern Drummer letters started pouring in! It was amazing! Within 6 months she had received letters from over 200 female drummers from all over the world and started FDN. There weren't any close by for her to practice with, but she had a great time hearing from everyone.
In 1997 she got the web site up thanks to Gary Barnett over at Baseline Sound and Graphics. The web site is now maintained by Rona and JAS Software ( her husband Jerome's company). A few years back Rona encouraged me to learn to play the drum set. It was something I always wanted to do but was always afraid. After seeing all the female drummers out there and hearing their stories I decided to try. (she finally got some one to practice with too!) That was my first set in the picture.
Since then I have enjoyed playing and Rona and I would get together every morning and have coffee and spend at least an hour playing drums. I also love being part of FDN and one of over 350 female drummers on the mailing list. This is a great forum to write into and talk about what ever you want to regarding drum and music related issues. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this and send in your stories! ~Marie~
Just A Quick Note
Most of the "PAGES" are "Archived" from the Female Drummer Website and some of the information may be outdated. We will be checking on most of it soon. For now we are just trying to get some of the content transferred here. If you know of any changes or updates, please let us know.
Thanks,
Rona

GUEST BOOK
WOW!!
I was finally able to retrieve the guest book from the FDN website.
I have been trying to access this for over a year!

New Start
Hi,
Ok, Roz has been keeping the porch light on for FDN while I played Gypsy, slacked off or whatever we are calling it this week. Thank God she has been with me on this long strange trip!
So in keeping with the old school ways, I will start by resurrecting her tributes first. Let us know who you are out there and what you want to see. We will try and get the website up ASAP but for now this will be our new home.
Thanks for visiting!
